Tuba Island, situated near Langkawi Island in Malaysia, boasts a vibrant fishing community. Accessible by a 45-minute boat ride from Kuala Perlis Jetty or a mere 15 minutes from Tuba Island itself, the island’s east coast hosts a bustling fishing village. The community hall, originally constructed by the Department of Fisheries Malaysia, serves as a central hub for daily activities and occasional community gatherings.

In 2023, management of the hall transitioned to KOPTUBAS (Koperasi Komuniti Kepulauan Tuba & Selat), prompted by the need for electrical infrastructure. With no existing power supply, KOPTUBAS embarked on a fundraising campaign to install a solar system, ensuring basic electrical amenities such as fans and lighting.

Recognizing the importance of this initiative, several lecturers from Universiti Malaysia Perlis identified the project as suitable for IEEE HTB SIGHT application. Following discussions with KOPTUBAS representatives, project details were meticulously reviewed and refined.

There are 3 teams take caring the installation:

Team 1, work on wiring installation and install inverter, lighting and socket inside the community hall.

Team 2, work on roof top solar panel installation, this team got to fix the racking system and fix the solar panel on the roof top. Team 2 need safety precautions and we had used safety harness for volunteers working in team 2.

Team 3 fix the rest of works, signboard, cctv installation and power meter installation. There is another media team working with video and picture capturing.
