IEEE DEIS Malaysia Chapter has successfully organized the webinar entitled “Advancement in Electrical Insulation for HV Equipment” on the 13th of September 2023 with over 60 participants coming from the industry, academics, researchers and students. It was a technical webinar on the advancement in electrical insulation for high voltage equipment which aimed share and discuss the current and future diagnosis and assessment of the insulation system especially for power cable and transformer. The Board of Engineers has also recognized the 4-hour webinar that was conducted through the Microsoft Teams with 4 CPD hours.   

The webinar was inaugurated by the chair of IEEE DEIS Malaysia Chapter, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Hazlee Azil bin Illias where he introduced the chapter as well as the objective and importance of getting up to date knowledge on the advancement in the electrical insulation diagnosis for HV equipment to the participants. The webinar was then gracefully continued by Assoc. Prof. Eur. Ing. Ir. Ts. Dr. Lau Kwan Yiew from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) where he spoke on the “Fundamentals and Advances in Electrical Insulation Materials”. Dr. Lau has shared his knowledge on the significance of electrical insulation and its recent advances. It was a refresher on the fundamentals of electrical insulation materials to all participants.
