On 7th March 2018, students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), who enrolled in the High Voltage Engineering course, had successfully organized a technical visit to Tenaga Switchgear Sdn. Bhd. at Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The visit was led by Dr. Farhan Hanaffi from UTeM, who is the lecturer of the course. The visit was supported by the IEEE DEIS Malaysia Chapter and Malaysian High Voltage Network (MyHVnet). The visit was also joined by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hidayat Zainuddin, who is the committee member of IEEE DEIS Malaysia Chapter and MyHVnet.
During the visit, Mr. Nashron Fajuri Rozali, a Specialist Engineer (Mechanical) from Tenaga Switchgear, gave a briefing about Tenaga Switchgear Sdn. Bhd. especially on the business activities and their product range. After that, in the production area, Mr. Muhammad Zulaidil Mad Noor, the Production Executive, briefed on the technical aspects of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), Gas Circuit Breaker (GCB) and disconnector. During the visit, the participants had an opportunity to look closer at these equipment, which are usually installed in 132 kV power systems.
