High Voltage Technical Talk in UTeM, Malacca

A High Voltage Technical Talk was successfully co-organised by the Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) High Voltage Engineering Research Lab (HVERL) and IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS) Malaysia Chapter on 9th January 2017 in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UTeM, Malacca.

Topics presented in this talk were on “Power Transformer Condition Monitoring” and “Various Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS).” Both topics were presented by Associate Professor Dr. Ahmed Abu-Siada from Curtin University, Australia, who is also a Senior Member of IEEE.

The talk was attended by academic staffs and postgraduate students, mainly from the UTeM Energy and Power System (EPS) Research Group.

Speaker’s biography: Abu-Siada received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Ain Shams University, Egypt and PhD degree from Curtin University, Australia, all in Electrical Engineering. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Curtin University. His research interests include power system stability, condition monitoring, power electronics and power quality. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and an active reviewer for various IEEE Transactions. He is the Vice Chair of the IEEE Computation Intelligence Society WA Chapter.
